Hon Richard Yates

Sir

I would like to go to Chattanooga and help to care for the sick and wounded of the recent battle. By the blessing of God my husband was spared He is Col. N H Walworth 42nd Reg. Ill. Vol. I was at Nashville two months last winter during which time was the Battle of Stone River. Past experience teaches me that I could do good at Chattanooga. I found in traveling that ladies from different states who had passes from their Gov. had no trouble in staying over to get passes of "Provo Marshals." I should consider it a great favor if you would send me one.

To Gov Richard Yates Springfield Ill

Mrs. N. H. Walworth
