Jacksonville Ills Nov 10th 1863

To whom it may concern

James [J.?] Glenn of Company K 101 Regt Illinois Vol came in to my care on the 31 day of Augst sick of fever & nervous debility and when about to return to his Regt relapsed & when improved so that he determined to leave relapsed again. During all which time he manifested the greatest anxiety to leave and comply with orders. As his Physician I affirm he was not able to return but would have done so but for my remonstrance Moreover he is known in this community as a young man of loyalty to his country and fidelity to obligation. I further


State he used all lawful and timely means to have his furlough extended
