To His Excellency Gov Yates

Dear Sir

Mr V Frederick of this place wishes to visit the Army of the Cumberland as he has Friends who he is anxious to see on important business. We the undersigned would respectfully recommend him to your favorable consideration as a gentleman of well known Loyalty. Will you please address him a letter recommending him to the Commander of the Army of the Cumberland as a person whome it will be safe, to pass into the lines of the Army for the purposes above Stated Respectfully Yours &C
