Gov Yates

Sir

I take the liberty of addressing these few lines to you to see if you will do anything for me

I have been a soldier since the first call for volunteers one year in the 31st Reg and one year and four months in the 85th part of the time as a Lieut. I was compelled to resign to save my life which I did on a Surgeons certificate of disability Oct 10th

I have all the necessary recommendations for the invalid corps but would rather do duty in the field, if you will give me a position either in a white or

colored Regiment you will render a true and loyal soldier everlastingly obliged

Yours very truly

Edwin. D. Lampett
