My Dear Sir
I accept with pleasure and gratitude your contribution to the poor fund of my church, and will appropriate it to a poor worthy woman, living near me, whose husband is in the army.
It is as you say, a 'little' matter, but small things may become important in developing noble traits of character in men holding high and responsible positions.
The name of the person to whom I referred in my note to you is Hughes.
That Almighty God may watch over, preserve, and bless you and your family, will be the fervent prayer of
Your obliged friend
and grateful Servt.
L. P. Clover.
