Indianapolis Ind. Jan. 26th 1864

Governor Yates,

Sir: we the undersigned members of Company E. 17th Regt. 1st Battalion Invalid Corps U. S. A. formerly of the 13th Regt. Ill. Vol. Inft. do request of you to have our furlough. time allowed to us, as none of us have ever had a furlough, & we have been in the U. S. Service two years eight months, & in the state service one half month.

We served in the field with the Regt. until the later part of last September when we were Transfered to the Invalid Corps, as we had by exposure & fatigue become unfit for field servise

We think according to Regulations that we are entitled to this time & therefore we apply to you to have it allowed to us.
