Hon Gov. of Illinois
Dear Sir
I am requested to address you for information in regard to the State Bounties from Illinois in behalf of one William S Thompson latenof Co "L" 8th Illinois Cavalry, Enlisted from deKalb Co Sept 16, 1861, who lost his left arm and was entirely disabled at battle of Mechanicsville. his condition is such that he
will need all that belongs to him, now resides at Wilbraham in this county.
He is of the impression that Your State gave all its Soldiers $2 per mo. during Service. This or any other bounty he has never recd.
If it is not improper I desire information for him upon the matter of bounties.
Respectfully
J. E. McIntire
