Sir:

Corpl. Stephen C. Holland of the 16th Ill. Cavly. who was one of the 3 mos. men of Milroy's 9th Inda. Regt; and though now in one of your Regts. is a native & citizen of this place; the son of a widowed mother - and is at present, at Convalescent Camp, Camp Nelson, Ky, desires a Commn in a Cold. Regt. I think him better suited & qualified for a Lieut's commn than many who have them. Can you do anything for him. His Regt being in Libby Prizon - and he at hospital, how shall he proceed with his application? To whom & where shall he make it?

Respectfully

Yours &c
