Hon A. C. Fuller

Adjutant General Illinois:

Sir:

I have the honor to report that there are now in camp at Quincy - four (4) companies of Colored troops recruited for the regiment authorized by the War Department to be raised in this state. I think it a matter of great importance that these companies he mustered into the Service at once.

As it may be some weeks before a full set of line officers can be properly selected I respectfully request (if the rules of the service permit) that a 2d Lieut for Each of these companies be appointed and mustered with the companies without delay. --- (over)


Herewith I have the honor to recommend for appointment as such 2d Lieuts the following named gentlemen who have passed an Examination

Charles A. Wetherbee, Corporal 34th Ill. Infty.

Henry S. Wadsworth, Private 42d Ill Infty.

Charles L. Francis, Private 88th Ill Infty.

John J. Gasper, 8th Ill Cavalry

Note. Mr Gasper is recommended by Hon John F. Farnsworth M.C. Ill. who states he has passed the Board at Washington. There is no official information on file in the Adjt Genls office Illinois.
