Hon. J. K. Duboise

Springfield

Dear Sir. Will you be so kind as to ask Governor Yates whether anything has been done in regard to my commission yet I understand that my application was placed on file and would receive due notice. I have his promise that he will grant my request if possible. But not haveing any one there to urge the Matter is liable to be [overlood?] and neglected. You will confer a great favor on me by letting me know by return mail.

Very Respectfully & Fraternaly

B. Mendenhall
