Mr. Yates Sir

I seat myself to write you a few lines I am one of your boys in Co. G of the 53d Regt of ills vol a private I don't remember of seeing you but once that was before [illegible] when you spoke to us last summer I thought I would wright to you to see if I can get a transfer out of this regt into the 111 Regt of Ills Vol as I have no relatives in this regt I have a uncle in that reg in Co. G and he wants me to get a transfur if I can so I thought you could give me more information than any other one if you will see and help me a little I will be very thankful to you
