Mr. Richard Yates Sir I sat my self this morning to make a request of yew and i hope it will be granted i want yew to give me permishion to go to my home in ills to see my family for which i have bin deprived the privlidge for fourtuen months and they are in such a condition that i have to go my wife and child rsides in Moneagud ills on the ills central railroad and if yew will grant mee ten or fifteen dayes i will be a hundred times obli to yew i know it is a critical time and thare has bin many desertions but i will pledge my word to yew that i will never disgrace myself by deserting the old flag and if yew ask it of mee i can give yew the wordes of the officers of this Regt i am yours very respectfully
