Mr. Ritchard Yates Sir
I take this opeortunity of Informing you of my Unfortunate distress in The Breaking out of the war. My Husband was anctious to go he is in Company E 16 Reg Ills Volts he is under Capton wilson He is stationed at Nashville Tennesee he left me with one Child and [but?] little to subsist upon thinking to send me part of his wages but he has failed to send it on account of the mail being Robed. about 6 weeks ago I was taken with the lung fevor and the Phisicians gave me up to die my friends Called an oth Phisician
They finely helped my lungs but my spinal marrow was effected whitch has taken the use of my hands and armes and feet and legs so that I cannot [illegible] use them to help my selfe and no one to procure me A home nor nothing to help my selfe withe my little boy 14 monthes old is bare of Clothing and no one to take Care of him now Sir I implore you if ever you done A Charitable deed please do one for me please [youre?] honar sir Procure A discharge for my husband his name is Allin Tates if you can't do that sir get him A
furlough for 20 or 30 [dyes] so he can Come home and Procure me A home and some thing for me to live upon as I never expect to be able to do any thing any more No mor from
