Having directed to you, about a month ago, a letter purporting an application for a commission in one of the Regiments of Illinois, in which letter was included a letter of introduction from Colonel Niles, which sickness prevents me to hand to you in person, and not having received an answer yet, I would very respectfully again lay before your kind consideration my application above mentioned, most anxiously waiting for your decision.
