Kellogg in reference to the appointment of Dept Provost Marshall giving the name of our townsman Elisha Nye Esq who is a good Union man & a suitable person for the place Will you have the Kindness to speak with the Judge upon the subject and also to the President Mr Nye may be unknown to you but I think not to Judge Kellogg He can give the best of references if desired
