Dear Govtr
I wrote to you a day or two after you were at my house addressed to care “National Hotel” Washington, calling your attention whilst in Washington to the application of our mutual friend John C. McCoy filed with the 1st asst. PM Genl. for Route agent on the mail route from Keokuk Iowa to the Great Western Rail Road of Illinois. the papers you have signed and I forwarded to Judge Kellogg who wrote me he had filed the papers I hope your will forward the matter if possible.
I learned after I wrote that you delayed your starting a week or more and you may not get my letter above referred to
Our Weather is the same we have had all winter long – health good – but no news of any kind worth noticing
