Govenor Ills

Dear Sir

It is with high esteem for you and the interest you have taken in releaving the sick and the ounded of our Soldiers now in the field that I now address you of vital importance to our common Country if thare could be some means devised in puting down the Traitors of the North and especially of Ills it would greatly aid our troops now in the field in erasing this wicked rebellion

thare are some in this Town and vacinity that openly declare that the President is a Traitor and Always has been. and now dear sir if I am clothed with authority to arrest such Traitors of our Goverment and deserters of our army I will do it if I lose my life in the attempt. and if a few arrests could be made in this vacinity it would have a salutary effect on the so called copperheads in this Town and vacinity

Fraternally Yours

B. Hall, P.M.

Thinks there should be some means of putting down traitors at home, says there are a number there that should be arrested and if the Governor will give him the power he will do it,
