Hon Richard Yates

Sir

I address a line to you hopeing you will grant my request if it is in your power to do so I was wounded in the Hatchie fight 5th October have been here since the first of Nov havent received any pay for nine months my wound is getting better but i wont be able for duty for some time yet


I would like a transfer to Ivansville Ind or leave of absence to go home a few days to see my family I am [anxirous?] to go to my Regt just as soon as iam able and would like to see my family before going back as they have been sick and my wife urges me to come and see them before agoing back i live in Jasper Co I remain yours to command
