Dear Sir inclosed please find a letter to me from a friend now in Ohio who left here the last of Feby for Ohio to purchace young Cattle for grazeing the coming season. You will see from his letter that he has become some what alarmed about his safe return home without a pass from your Hon
Mr Jackson V Smith has resided in this place some Eight Years owns a farm in this County of 160 acres land, and wishes to return here as soon as sufficient grass comes
Will you have the kindness to send me a pass for him
I can assure you that he is a worthy citizen of the State of Illinois.
You will confer a very great favor by giving this your Early attention
