Honorable R Yates

Dr Sir

In consequence of Affliction I had to Resigne my place as Captain in the 73d Reg Ills Vols I have been home over a month now and am free to acknowledge that had any person told me that there was so much treason here I would have been slow to believe it But it is too true and now every day men are herd to say that they are armed and

ready to resist any effort to conscript or enforse Law and order Secret meetings are held all over this County for the purpose of ploting treason against the Government; I suppose you are now receiving word from the various parts of the State on the same subject;

Now what I wish to say is this; That you will find me ready at a moments notice for any Emergency that may arrise in assisting either the State or United States Authorities

in punishing all offenders against the powers that be Should you need my services in any capasity in arresting or inforcing Law and order please notify me and I will be on hand amediately. Hoping and trusting the Lord will Support and Sustain you in this dark hour I am Most Respectfuly

Your Obedient Servent
