Dear Sir I intended to write to my brother John [Haden?] to get him to write to you for me but it is impossible to get a letter to him, the Rebels being in that part of the country all communication is out of I have a son confined in prison in Camp Butler Springfield Ill John T Woodford a son of Henry Woodford whom you were well acquainted in days gone by I write to see if I could get you to intercede in his behalf his health being very bad. He was a peaceable citizen but of southern sympathies he found he was going to be arrested had to keep hid and finaly concluded to go to the Southern army was badly wounded was confined at Johnson Island for several months was exchanged and in a short time was taken again He has been a prisoner almost all of the time for 8 months his health


is suffering very much from the wound and confinement I am well aware this is all and old story an every day ocurrence I did not know of anyone that could have more influence if you would interest yourself I know I am asking a great favor You would oblige me very much if you would try to get him paroled let him come home if not for Ky for Ill or get him released on any terms as I very much fear his health cannot be restored

I know your time is taken with things of great importance but you will oblige me if you will let me hear from you very soon Yours Respectfully
