Description

Dr. Benjamin Woodward served as a surgeon in the Illinois 22nd Infantry during the Civil War, enlisting at the age of 51. He married Amanda Hargin and they had several childen including sons Howard and Henry and daughter Mary Elizabeth. Dr. Woodward mustered out of the United States Army in 1864.

Photographs in this collection include portraits of Dr. Benjamin Woodward and his family around the time of the Civil War.
