Description
The Yates Family includes two Illinois Governors, Richard Yates, Sr. (1861-1865) and Richard Yates, Jr. (1901-1905). Each of these men went on to serve as elected officials at the federal level. Richard Yates, Sr. was an United States Representative from 1851-1855 and an United States Senator from 1865-1971. Richard Yates, Jr. served in the United States House of Representatives from 1919-1932.
