Description

James Taylor served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1969-1981 and again from 1983-1985. He served in the Illinois Senate from 1981-1983. Taylor grew up in Chicago and attended the University of Illinois in Urbana and Monticello College. After school, he served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After the war, Jones returned to Chicago where he worked as a supervisor on the Stevenson Expressway as well as for the 16th Ward Bureau of Sanitation. He won election to the Illinois House of Representatives in 1968 representing the 26th district. He served both the Illinois House of Representatives and the Illinois Senate until leaving elected office in 1985.
