Finley is the Post Surgeon of the Hospital, I had two sons in the same company, the eldest was killed in the battle at Perrysville, and as the other has been sick ever since <hr /> nearly, with the Diarrhe, Rheumatism and cough, and his officer thinks he will never be fit for service again, and if such is the fact I would like to have him at home, not to linger out his life in Hospital, when if at home he might partially recover. I have known him long, & his parents longer. They are all right every way. If there is a position in any Battery where you could gratify young Burnams wishes, I pray you to do it. I feel the fullest assurance, from my own person <hr /> al knowledge & from the Reports of his Superior officers, that such an appointment would prove entirely satisfactory to all concerned. to me personally it would be exceedingly gratifying.
