Dear Sir.

With much feeling and interest, I attempt the priviledge of addressing a few lines to you soliciting your aid in behalf of my son Wm. D. Forbes, a member of Co G. 75th Regt I. V. M. who has been sick and in the Hospital nearly all the time since the Battle at Perrysville Ky. he was in hospital at New Albany Ind. until the latter part of February at which time he was moved to the camp near Murphresboro Tenn. at which place he is now at. I. Y. Finley is the Post Surgeon of the Hospital, I had two sons in the same company, the eldest was killed in the battle at Perrysville, and as the other has been sick ever since

nearly, with the Diarrhe, Rheumatism and cough, and his officer thinks he will never be fit for service again, and if such is the fact I would like to have him at home, not to linger out his life in Hospital, when if at home he might partially recover.

I have written these few lines giving you the facts of the case as I understand them, and not deeming it necessary to write more.

Hoping if it is in your power to render him any assistince that you will grant him the favour.

I have no way of giving you any refference in regard to my self more than the Proceedings of the Grand Lodge, Refering to the list of Lodges, In Franklin Grove Lodge No 264 you will find my name among the officers of that Lodge. Your Most Obedient servant

Hon Richd Yates.

Arthur Burnam of Capt Taylor's Battery has been in the service now nearly two years. He is a brave, intelligent, spirited & ambitious young man, has been in many pitched battles, has won the confidence of his commanders, & is entirely competent for the position of Lieut. I have known him long, & his parents longer. They are all right every way. If there is a position in any Battery where you could gratify young Burnams wishes, I pray you to do it. I feel the fullest assurance, from my own person

al knowledge & from the Reports of his Superior officers, that such an appointment would prove entirely satisfactory to all concerned. to me personally it would be exceedingly gratifying.
