I have recd. a letter from him dated the 24th of last month stating the case as it [occured?] [illegible] he had mailed a letter to me enclosing six months pay and a report haveing Come to the Camp that the previous mail had been Captured by the Rebels he foolishly formed the Idea of takeing his letter out of the bag which he admits he done for which he was Court martialed and sentenced to serve the balance of his time in Prison which I believe is two years & two months <hr /> he belongs to the 100 Hundreth Illinois Regt.
