B H.A. Rice his Capt. he was but 17 when he enlisted. I his mother forbade them taking him. he has served since the 4th of last March & has recieved no pay. his Father was dying. the doctor that attended him wrote the Capt the case jest as it was & he could not get no furlough so he came without. his Father died before he arrived. B H.A. Rice his Capt. he was but 17 when he enlisted. I his mother forbade them taking him. he has served since the 4th of last March & has recieved no pay. his Father was dying. the doctor that attended him wrote the Capt the case jest as it was & he could not get no furlough so he came without. his Father died before he arrived. This man, Echols, was a citizen of Monroe County, in this state, before the commencement of the rebellion. - He is now a Brigadier General in the rebel army, and is frequently on the border of our State, with his command, annoying the people very much by conscripting them, carrying off their property &c. My purpose in writing you is to ask that you will see that proceedings are commenced in the U.S. over <hr /> Court to confiscate the lots mentioned. I would write direct to the District attorney, but I fear he might neglect to attend to it, and I feel it my duty to see that the Government gets the benefit of whatever means such traitors may have in the loyal States.
