My Son has served nearly three years and has seen hard service in the Army of the Potomac he now lies sick at the above named place. I am a Massachusetts Lady & my son inlisted there, and since the death of my other [two?] sons I have come to reside here I have but one son and all my means of support through this war. If I was in Boston I could procure a pass through Gov. Andrews as I am well acquainted with him. My son William H. Bugbee was Capt of the First Excelsior Brigade. He and myself equipped the First Company of that & it was about the first that left Boston for the seat of War and I feel that I am not asking too much of you. If you can procure me one please do so at once & receive the Greatful thanks of your humble sevt <hr /> If you cannot please write me at once & very much oblige.
