It occured to me that they were rather indefinite, as they did not name any Col, or regiment to whom or which they wanted you to apply. I would therefore suggest that you use your influence first with Col Sloane of Chicago. Mr Owen Lovejoy I believe has a paper similar to the one you <hr /> received & has promised to use his influence in the Same direction. I am not particular, however, what regiment I go into, or where I am called. I would prefer a Hospital to the field so far as comfort is concerned, but am willing to serve my Country any where. If you consider the papers forwarded you a sufficient recomendation. you may consider me a Candidate for the post of Chaplaincy at any time & place one may be wanted.
