</p><p>I beg to assure your Excellency that it will afford me sincere pleasure to comply with your request, if possible. The War Department has declined accepting any more Artillery from this State. We have already 24 Batteries: so that the promotion must be made, if at all, in existing organizations. I will however try and watch for an opportunity and remember one who comes so well recommended, and if I can do so consistently, will give Mr Lamb a place.

</p><p>Ottawa July 22nd, 1862.
</p><p>A large and enthusiastic war meeting was held in the Court House this Evening. Short and patriotic speeches were made by several home speakers. And the following resolutions were unanimously adopted.
</p><p>Resolved, that we recommend to the Board of Supervisors of LaSalle Co. that they call a special meeting to consider the call of the government for more men, that said meeting be made public, and the public generally be invited to attend.
</p><p>Resolved, that we request Gov. Yates to appropriate any sum of money he may see fit to those who volunteer, as a bounty. And that we pledge ourselves to send members to the Legislature who will sustain his action.
</p><p>Resolved that the Citizens of LaSalle Co. be invited to meet in mass meeting at Ottawa next Saturday at one oclock.

</p><p>Seeing that a number of new regiments are to be raised in this state I supposed that more surgeons might be needed and so I offer my services if any more are needed or any vacancy exists. I am a graduate of the Ohio Med. College and have practiced twelve years.
</p><p>I spent five months last winter and Spring with Prof. Blackman who was medical director of Gen. Mitchell's Division of Ohio troops. For references I will refer you to Hon. William A Hacker, Col. William R. Morrison and Col. S. C. Taler.
