Yates to get a furlough for Mr. Julius Brown, who has been very sick of Tiphoid fever & was in the General Hospital at Jackson Tenn. Not having heard any thing from you or Govr. He has been in the Hospital 9 months and there has not been at any time a hope of his getting well (afflicted with sore eyes) all we want is instructions how to move to obtain his release; his wife was with him at one time but could not effect any thing. He should have been discharged 8 months since. We know it does not rest with you but you or the Adgutant can instruct us. The principal has left the County and the securities are insolvent, the principal Christian Boepple executed to his sureties a mortgage upon real estate of sufficient value to secure them, this they are willing to assign to the state if they are released from the judgement. Judge Davis thought I had better take the mortgage and release them as it was for the best interest of the state to do so but he also advised me before releasing them to get written authority from you to do so for my own protection. The principal has left the County and the securities are insolvent, the principal Christian Boepple executed to his sureties a mortgage upon real estate of sufficient value to secure them, this they are willing to assign to the state if they are released from the judgement. Judge Davis thought I had better take the mortgage and release them as it was for the best interest of the state to do so but he also advised me before releasing them to get written authority from you to do so for my own protection.
