Surgeon Wright of our said Regt did propose for us applications for furlough to return to our Homes in our own state-but that in consequence of an onward movement of our Army Corps. it became necessary that we should be sent to Hospl. and did not get the benefit of said Furlough but was instructed by our Regimental Surgeon and the Surgeon in charge of the Hospl. at Lebanon that we would be sent to our own State. Under "certain arrangements" that had been provided by your Excellency. whereby sick and wounded soldiers should be sent to Hospitals nearest their Homes in their own States We were transferred from Lebanon to Louisville with the understanding that we would proceed to our own State. but instead of being forwarded were detained and placed in this Hospl which is three miles from the City. We have no way of egress from here either by a pass or otherwise and are therefore cut off from communication with any one who might be able to inform us as to our just rights The Hospl.
