I dislike to trouble you about matters of this kind for I presume you have no time to attend to such matters. Our people feel mortified and humbled at result of the Battle of Manasas. There is a strong feeling against Patterson who is no doubt much to blame. Beside this there has been no doubt a great blunder some where. To allow the rebels to select their own <hr /> position, take their own time to fortify it and then to attack that position with a force smaller by at least one third was certainly hazzarding every thing.
