Davis (Democrat) served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1943 through 1978. He represented the First District from 1943-1956, the Twentieth District from 1957-1964, the Twenty-second District from 1967-1978, and as an At-large Representative from 1965-1966. Known as “Deacon” because of his pulpit-style oratory, Davis fought for civil and women’s rights, fair employment practices, and the care and protection of children. Davis also played an important role in securing funds for the restoration of the Old State Capitol in Springfield. Keller began his working career as a school teacher and principal in Ava, Illinois, before becoming a lawyer and eventually working in the mining industry in the western United States and Mexico. Keller represented southern Illinois as a member of the Illinois State Senate (1913-1917) where he advocated for old-age pensions, woman’s suffrage, pure food and drug laws, and the eight-hour day. He served five terms in the United States House of Representatives (1931-1941). Title A name given to the resource Herrick-Reasoner Family Collection Description An account of the resource Photographs from the families of Major General Curtis James Herrick and his wife, Alice (Reasoner) Herrick. Mrs. Herrick was born Alice Reasoner to Colonel Mathew A. Reasoner (1875-1947) and his wife Mabel (Milnor) Reasoner (1877-1964) in Alton, Illinois. General Herrick was born in North Dakota and served his professional career as an officer in the United States Army from 1931 to 1967. The Herricks are both buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C. The collection contains photographs from Mrs. Harrick's family collection;however, most of the images are from General Herrick's military service.
