The Virginia Library, constructed in 1896, is named for school funders Cyrus Hall and Nettie Fowler McCormick's daughter, Mary Virginia. The library, an example of Ionic Greek architecture, held 85,000 volumes.
The 1883 McCormick Hall building takes its name from the school's primary funder from 1859 through the mid-twentieth century, Cyrus McCormick, Sr. and his family.
