Dear Sir:

I am requested by Gov. Yates to say in reply to yours of the 19th ult. that he had an interview with Mrs. Col Turchin, that upon a full understanding of the position of the 19th & 24th Regiments, and of the difficulties which surround them, he wrote a communication to the Secretary of War urging upon him the importance of detaching these Regts from Buels command. He also wrote to other parties in Washington asking them to back up the request.
