May 6th [186]4.
Col. Wm Hoffman
Commissary General of Prisoners
Washington City DC.
Colonel C A Hutchinson a private in Capt Jesse Cantrell's company C. 114th Regt Ills. Vols. a paroled prisoner - was furloughed from Jarvis Hospital Baltimore Md from 2d of May to 1st June '64. - Properly approved by Medl Director, & Maj Genl Wallace Apl 28th & 19th last -
Furlough exhibited to me today -
The 111th Regt. is at Memphis Tennessee and when exchanged it would seem better for Mr Hutchinson to report to his regiment from a
Western Hospital or Camp -
I would respectfully request that order issue for his transfer from Hospital at Balt. to Benton Barracks St Louis, where you have already sent paroled (Illinoisans) from Camp Parole, Annapolis Md. This would save the Govt transportation to and from Balt. when Furlough expires and when Hutchinson is exchgd and ordered to his regt. Will you please make reply to me about this case and much oblige
Very Resply & Truly Yrs
