Dear Sir: Your letter of 8th April enclosing a/c for damages sustained by reason of Encampment of [12th?] Ills Cavalry on your premises &c came during my absence at Washington.
I have this day written to Genl Thomas Adjutant General USA. Washington enclosing our letter and account with particular request that it be audited and paid and asked him to write me about it, which when & he does I will write you further.
