Dear Sir: Mr. Isaac Fulton aged 64 years, resident of Athens Menard Co Ills. has sent four sons into the service in this war. Two of them have died in the service, one of 28th Ills. Inft. and the other of 14th Ill Cav. Two sons yet living who are members of the 28th Inft. Quite recently his fifth son, his only dependence, has died leaving the old gentleman & his wife in a helpless condition. He is desirous that one son, James M. Fulton of Co F. 28th Ill. Vols. (Inft) be discharged and I know the case one worthy of immediate favorable action. Please write me whether you can discharge him and much oblige
