Sir:
No preparations are being made to send nurses to the field and if there was any required there is no fund from which I could draw to pay the expense as the State Treasurer refuses to pay on appropriations made by last Legislature for benefit of Sick and wounded Soldiers. Surgeons of Hospitals employ nurses and you might [probably?] get employment by making application.
