Colonel:

The bearer Mr. L. Rexford, has a minor son at Camp Butler who enlisted against his parents' consent in the 5th Cav. Regt, who has been in camp since February last, and has not been mustered.

Mr R. wishes to see if he cannot prevent his being mustered into U.S. service, and have him discharged if possible.


You will oblige me by giving Mr Rexford all information necessary on the subject, and by rendering him such assistance as may be consistent with the interests of the service, to effect his son's discharge.
