I have the honor to request your attention to the cases of.
Lieutenant Worthen of 118th Ills Vols and Captain J R Muhlman Asst Adgt General 2nd Div. 21st Army Corps. (staff of Maj General Jno M Palmer) both residents of Illinois who were taken prisoners by the Confederates at Chickamanga and have since been confined in Libby Prison Richmond.
I mentioned their cases to you several days since while at your office with Lt Col Morton 84th Ill. Vols. returned from Libby Prison &c &c.
The above named are highly meritorious officers and worthy special rememberance should opportunity occur for a special exchange; and your recollection of them would be highly
esteemed by His Excellency Govr Yates, and their estimable relations & friends in Illinois
Would feel thankful for any information concerning them you may at any time be able to communicate.
