His Excellency
Govr Richd Yates
Dear Sir
You must not scold us, in three days after we received your order for the uniform suit we had it ready to send, but the delay has been occasioned more particularly with the sword, we could not obtain one and was compeld to order one made and then to wait our turn the rush of our Pennsylvania patrots have been so great that every thing in the way of military fixings have all been used up, God help the southern chivelry when our boys with such nerve & sinue come down on them, we have sent your clothes which you will receive before this letter reaches you, about wensday we will send all the ballance of your articals on Wensday next
we had Gen McLelland horse fixings laid away to make yours first, Saddle bridle [swett?] cloth &c If we could get a contract for making the milatary clothing Sarmiento or my self would come out to Springfield, or if any considerable number of the officers would give us orders we would go out
Verry respectfully
yours
