Dear Sir

I have the honor to report myself and command, in very comfortable quarters, in the Illinois Central R.R. stone deport, my men, are all well and in fine spirits anxiously waiting for the balance of their arms and equipment - Col G Waagner - Chief of Artillery, in the Ohio Dept. requests me to make out a full requisition on him, for all the necessary equipment for my battery, and assures me that he will use all his influence with the War Department, to put us on a war footing, at the earliest possible moment.

I hope your Excellency will take this matter into your consideration immediately, and for the honor of the State you represent, see that the battalion is properly equipped, by the state, and that we be not behind our sister states in this respect.
