Dear Sir:
I bore in mind what you said about the reports which a certain Mr. C. of our acquaintance had spread up in this region and as far as possible put a quietus upon them.
I see that Loomis has got the command of Scotts regiment, does that make a vacancy in the Adjt Genls Office, if so could you put me in. I can work and if there should work and you need not fear but that I would sincerely

and loyally support your measures to place the State in good condition of defence or attack.
I venture to suggest this as I am only desirous of some employment at this time. What I chose and labored for was stripped from me and I only ask for employment not its emoluments but for desire to serve somewhere in any capacity that I may be suited for
