I should not reply to your insulting letter except to say to you to mind your own business - and also to say that the appointment of Browning gives almost universal satisfaction to both parties in the State - because Mr. Browning occupies precisely the same position on the questions now before the people which Douglas occupied at his death and because he is a man of the most eminent ability. If you denounce this as "an unprincipled act" all I have to say is that you are guilty of meaness and falsehood - and I would thank you not to trouble me with your silly advice.
Richd Yates.
