In reply to your letter of the 4th inst, enquiring for the whereabouts of the 14th Ills. Vols. I would say that the last heard from, the Reg't had been captured at Alatoona Ga. -- The report was simply that it was captured (except Co H - not all killed and wounded as your hear. The whereabouts of Col Rogers is not known, though he is supposed to be with Gen'l Sherman. -- I hope your husband is safe
