Governor In reply to your communication of the 25th Sept 1863 requesting that Lieut John McCurley, Co "G" 2d Miss Regiment be permitted to take the Oath of Allegiance and be released from Johnsons Island, Ohio, I have the honor to inform you that the case was submitted to the Secretary of War, by whom it was ordered to be held in reserve, In the mean time the prisoner will not be sent South for Exchange against his consent.
