Dear Sir
A friend of mine Jacob Littleton Esqr of Peoria who is a good and loyal citizen has a cousin of his wife who is now a prisoner at Johnsons Island He is a young man that Mr Littleton partly raised He assures me that he was an unwilling soldier in the Rebel army Mr Littleton wishes to visit him at Johnsons Island and would like to have a letter from you recommending him to the favorable consideration of the commander of that place.
I take great pleasure in recommending Mr Littleton to your favorable consideration and hope you will send to me a letter for him I have to leave this morning or I would call on you in person. Yours Truly
