Governor of Illinois,
Governor,
Permit me to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 30th inst informing me of the action you have pursued in my case towards getting me a transfer into the "Veteran Reserve Corps." You have done more that I had hoped for and for your efforts made in my behalf let me return you my sincere and heartfelt thanks as the only offering I can give. I wish to be of some service to you and should every that event present itself to view let your mind turn to one whom you have aided and it will be deemed a special act to be at your disposal.
